NYX Butter Gloss

I received this NYX Butter Gloss in Sugar Glass in an Ulta sample pack.

It comes in sleek packaging with a soft doe foot applicator.

I haven’t used this formula because I don’t usually go for glosses but this one is really comfortable. It’s not sticky at all and feels moisturizing. It also has a wonderful vanilla-y icing scent that you can smell as you’re applying the gloss but not once it’s on so if you’re sensitive to scents this shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m not going to run out and buy more but I’m glad I was able to try this out and will continue to use it.

Indie Lee Lotion Tonique CoQ-10

I was first introduced to Indie Lee when I received a complimentary Retinol Alternative Cream. I was intrigued by the product and the commitment to clean ingredients and environmentally friendly packaging.

The only skincare product I never have a surplus of is toner, so I figured I’d give that a try

“Balance and refresh your skin with this hydrating toner. Alcohol-free and formulated with antioxidant powerhouse CoQ-10, Aloe Vera, and Cucumber, this non-drying skin spritzer primes and softens skin exposed to environmental aggressors.”

I found the packaging of this product interesting. It’s in a glass bottle and has a spray nozzle. I have not seen this spray nozzle dispenser on a toner in the past. To use, I spray some product onto a cotton pad (I use Makeup Eraser toner puffs) and rub on my skin. I use this directly after washing my face to give instant hydration.

Since I already have fine lines *sigh* I can’t speak to whether or not the product works in preventing them but given the hydrating effect I could see how it would prevent them from getting deeper or help prevent more lines and wrinkles.

Some information on CoQ-10 in skin care:

  • Helps reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Provides skin energy helps to support the production of collagen
  • Helps reduce dullness
  • It works well with hyaluronic acid, collagen and retinol
  • Retinol helps breakdown CoQ-10 and helps it absorb into the skin faster

Maybelline Dream BB Fresh 8-in-1 Skin Perfector

I’ve been testing out new foundations/BB cream/CC creams lately and today I used the Maybelline Dream BB Fresh 8-in-1 Skin Perfector

I purchased it at Ulta which carries 5 non-inclusive shades, not sure if the brand carries a larger variety elsewhere.

I purchased 120 medium which looked to have a neutral undertone in the swatches provided. It came out a little darker than I thought it would but it applied nicely once I spread it out and matched my skin.

Since it is a BB cream the color of the product is more forgiving.

I set the cream using the new elf Camo pressed powder. I think they look nice together but either my skin is too dry for this or I need something more skin smoothing.

It’s a nice light BB cream that helps even out skin tone and provides you with spf 30.

I went over some areas I wanted more coverage on with concealer.

This is a product I’ll keep using before I give my final thoughts.

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts and do you have recommendations of other light to medium coverage products I should try?

This has been in my drafts for a cool second and since then I’ve misplaced the product *face-palm*

Curlsmith Weightless Air Dry Cream

I took advantage of one of Ulta’s sales last week and purchased some Curlsmith hair products to test.

I’ve been really lazy with my hair care this last year because (covid of course 😂) I haven’t been leaving my house so I haven’t been doing much other than washing it.

I went through a long journey to train my hair so I could stop washing it every day and it’s really helped my hair not be as oily and my waves have really come out.

Based on a small amount of research, I believe my hair to be 2b. It’s medium thickness and has somewhat defined waves that start about halfway down my head.

This is the longest I’ve had my hair in over two decades and I’d like to keep it long and grow it out more so I figured it was time to do something with it.

I rarely hear about products for people with wavy hair (maybe I’m just not hanging out in the right places) which is another reason I haven’t really made an effort with my hair. I find using curly hair products can help, but some also can be too heavy for my hair.

I’ve never heard of Curlsmith but the products were on sale and they all had really good reviews and a good amount of reviews.

I received my products yesterday (Monday 1/3/2022) and decided to give the Air Dry Cream right away.

I didn’t wash my hair yesterday but I did condition from my neck down because my hair tends to get very tangled and hard to brush.

I applied the Air Dry Cream to my dry hair, mostly towards the end of my hair, only going as high as halfway up my head.

The directions say to apply it to wet hair but I wanted to try it in a more realistic (to me) setting.

Right away the product made my hair SO EASY to brush. That alone makes this an 8/10 for me. My hair is so hard to brush I usually avoid it so this really seems like a game changer.

I left my hair down while the product dried and I noticed my waves were defined more in the front and my hair didn’t frizz up.

Brushed through and put in pony tail

I haven’t washed my hair since Thursday or Friday and this cream didn’t make my hair feel oily or heavy. My hair has stayed soft and easy to brush through.

I’ll wash my hair today (it’s 5 am as I do a final proof read) and use this again but so far I’m enjoying this product and have high hopes. So far my hair still doesn’t feel hea y with product. I sleep with my hair tied back and use a silk pillow case. I did wake up with the usual knots at the base of my neck but running my fingers through my hair feels like it may be easier to brush through than other mornings.

Have you tried anything from this brand? What type of hair do you have and what are your thoughts on the products?

WetNWild Incognito Concealer

I recently picked up the new Mega Last Incognito All-Day Full Coverage Concealer, available for $4.99US on their website, and I have been loving it!

Available here

It provides medium to full coverage, blends out smoothly and doesn’t make my under eyes look cakey.

It wears well under setting powder and really lasts all day.

Its available now in 21 shades.

NYX Ultimate Utopia

As soon as I saw this color story I was on love! Too bad regular price the palette is $35. I’m not sure why but to me that seems like too much to pay for a NYX palette despite the amount of shades offered

I ended up having to wait a few months for the palette to go on sale and when it finally did I paid about $25 for it, in case you’re like me and don’t want to pay the full price.

I do love the color story, and the products are easy to blend, durable and the metallics are gorgeous.

Here I went with something fast and simple but was about to make it exciting by using the lime green yellow

I started with 1 in my crease, softly blending it out and very lightly building it up until I achieved the color I wanted

I darker the outer V of my lid with 2 and lightly swept it into the crease

Then I applied NYX glitter primer in the remaining 2/3 of my lids and applied 3 to the center portion and 4 to the inner 1/3. I blended between the two to avoid a hard line.

I used a little bit of 5 to blend 3 into 2.

For my lower lash I used 6 so over the lower lash and 7 tight against my lash line.

I asked friends to select colors for me to use and this incorporated two options.

What do you think of this palette?
