ABH Subculture 3 looks

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette is probably my favorite, despite the negative reviews it received.

I wouldn’t say that I have a favorite palette but if I did, I think it would be this one. Anytime I pick up this palette it’s easy to continue to use it day after day.

Here are three looks made using this palette

Look #1: I used Dawn to set my base (MAC pro paint pot in Soft Ochre), then I used Edge in the Crease, darkend the crease and applied to outer V with Mercury and finally Rowdy. I used NYX glitter primer all over the lid and applied Adorn. I used Edge all across the lower lash and Mercury in the outer lower lash.

Look #2 : I used Dawn to set my base (MAC pro paint pot in Soft Ochre), then I lightly applied Mercury in the crease, added Destiny to outer V and used Untamed to smoke out the look. I used NYX glitter primer all over the lid and applied Electric. I used Destiny all across the lower lash and Untamed in the outer lower lash.

Look #3 : for look #3 I pulled in the Dominique Cosmetics Celestial Thunder palette. This came in a BoxyCharm last November and I haven’t used it much. The color story is very similar to Subculture and it paired nicely.

Again started with Dawn to set the MAC Soft Ochre base, then went in with Edge, Mercury and Zero Gravity. I was hoping Zero Gravity would darken the outer V but it’s didn’t add much to a mercury so I added Storm Dust to add depth to the outer V. I used NYX glitter primer and applied Eternal Light but it wasn’t very pigmented so I layered Cube over it.

I like the variety of looks I was able to come up with and am still loving this palette.

“Halloween” Makeup!

As much as I love seeing creative holiday looks and would like to be more adventurous and editorial with my makeup I don’t foresee myself doing it anytime soon. That doesn’t mean I can enjoy a good Halloween collection though!

Last year Makeup Revolution released the Forever Flawless Haunted House palette and, after missing out on it the first go around, I decided to purchase it. Even if it was just because of the tin, oops >.<

Not only is the tin eye catching but the names are perfectly fitting for the theme!

Fortunately, the color story is something I can work with and the quality matches the rest of their Forever Flawless line.

I don’t limit palettes to seasons so have used this throughout the year but I did chose this as one of my monthly palettes for this month.

Something I noticed and was excited about it, is that within this palette I can see how my comfort levels have changed.

Last year I wound have completely stayed away from Decrepit, Petrify, Creepy and Undead but this year they were the first colors I gravitated to!

  • Peril in the crease blending up towards the brow
  • Decrepit in the crease, keeping it lower than Peril and blending it in the outer 1/3 of my lid building it up on the outer 1/3
  • Added Petrify to 1/3 of my lid to darken it up more, blending it towards the center of my lid
  • I used NYX Glitter Primer on the inner half of my lid focusing it more in the inner 1/3, patting it on. Wait a few seconds to let out dry
  • Apply Creak over primer with my finger or flat brush gently swiping it when you get to the center of the lid towards the outer edge to blend between the shimmer and matte shade
  • Clean up under the eye for any fallout, do remainder of face
  • Peril all over lash line
  • Decrepit in outer 1/3 lower last blending towards center
  • With my eye closed I took a small dense brush and applied Nightmare at my upper and lower lash line to darken it up a bit and give a blurred liner look
  • Afterwards I took a thin flat liner brush and tight lined my upper lash with Decrepit (but the brush and product tight into my lash line)
  • Applied Phantom between Peril and my eyebrow
  • Took a lip brush, I like these because they’re small and tightly packed which makes them perfect for picking up and precisely placing product in an area, and used Creep in the inner corner to add some brightness to the look

Did you pick up this palette? Or are you picking up this year’s?

Hope everyone has a great rest of their day and week!

Makeup Revolution Constellation

The Makeup Revolution Forever Flawless palettes are some of my favorite affordable palettes.

The color stories go so well together in each palette and there is a good variety to chose from. In addition, their tin packaging makes them stand out and hardy enough to travel with.

Today I used the Constellation palette which can look a bit intimidating as a work look palette.

$15 US

I managed to stay away from the one brown color in the palette and put together a look I felt comfortable going in to the office with while using the brighter colors

The colors were pigmented and easy to blend. Overall I was impressed at how vibrant the colors showed up.
