Givenchy Prisme Libre Foundation

I received the Givenchy Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Matte Foundation from Influenster free for testing. I really like the Prisme Libre loose powder so I was excited to try the foundation.

It’s described as: “A skincare-infused, long-lasting matte foundation that is lightweight and natural while blurring and addressing imperfections for up to 24 hours.

It definitely is matte and I would describe it as full coverage even though Sephora’s website describes it as medium coverage. I would recommend starting with a small amount and build it up.

I also noticed that if I didn’t moisturize well enough, it would make my skin look a little dry, and I also had to go in very light with a finishing powder.

Once I figured out the right amount to use and how to set it, I enjoyed the foundation.

For a high-end brand, I don’t think $49US is too expensive, you get the standard 1oz, it’s a pump bottle and has a nice frosted glass look.

I’m still on the fence about whether or not I would buy this on my own. I have many other foundations I enjoy more but I didn’t dislike this one. I’ll continue to use the foundation and will try to remember to provide an update once I’ve gotten more use of it, especially in the warmer summer months.

Have you used this foundation? Are you interested in trying it?

Don’t forget the Sephora sale is coming up soon and it would be a great time to pick this up!

Melt Cosmetics Matte Lipstick

I am all about bullet lipsticks and the more matte they are, the better! This usually means extra lip balm and nighttime treatment but every now and then I find a nice matte lipstick that doesn’t suck the life out of my lips.

Melt Cosmetics released some matte lipsticks in May but since I was holding out for the Sephora VIB sale (Nov 5-15) I just discovered them.

On-the-go is described as a “dusty rose pink”. The forumla is very comfortable to wear and it fades nicely throughout the day leaving my lips a bit stained. The compact packaging makes it easy to take with you. It has a magnetic closure and a nice weight to it.

I also picked up Old Rose and have since ordered a couple more shades.

Have you tried these? Are you interested in these lipsticks?

Not so great Vol 1

Do you ever have a bad makeup day and realize it’s because the products you used just aren’t working out?

For the most part I try to post positive reviews, which means I post or share products I like but, I realize posting about what I don’t like is equally helpful.

Today was a “bad” makeup day. To me that means I don’t like the way my makeup looks and there are two reasons why.

The PUR On Point mascara did nothing for my lashes. I applied 3-4 coats and it still looked like I had run a clear mascara through my lashes. I even waited a few minutes for the second to last coat to dry. It didn’t even work for my lower lashes.

The second product is the Physician’s Formula The Healthy Lip liquid lipstick. I purchased the holiday set from last year and I’ve spent all year trying to like this product. I finally gave up today and I’m throwing them all out. The colors are great but the formula is so dry and flakey. If I apply a balm or gloss my lips don’t feel like ten day old raisins but I’m not a glossy lip kind of person

Do you tag brands in negative reviews? Whar are some products that didn’t work for you?

Eyelook and Mascara Review

I received this LA Girl Cosmetics Jetsetter mascara free to test. I was excited to test this because I’m all about inexpensive mascara, regular price this is $7US at Ulta and the brand goes on sale fairly often.

The key benefits claimed are:

  • Buildable, smudge-proof, paraben free formula
  • Sky high lift and length
  • Water and flake resistant

In my experience the formula is not buildable nor does it provide any kind of lifting or length.

To get my lashes to look as shown in the pictures, I had to apply three coats of mascara. I would have done another layer to make them darker but on the third layer my lashes started to clump and look like spider legs. I waited until the mascara dried to brush through my lashes with a clean spoolie which made them less clumpy. Having done this I can attest that the mascara is not flakey.

I give this a three out of five stars and would not recommend it.

Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?

Wet N Wild Mega Protein Mascara

I’m not usually picky when it comes to mascara, in fact my favorite mascara is an Essence Lash Princess mascara that’s $4. However, when it comes to this WNW mascara, it is awful.

I picked it up hoping it would be another great inexpensive mascara (also because I didn’t have a mascara on me and didn’t want to spend money on one, haha), but it’s not. It feels greasy, maybe it’s the “protein”, and it doesn’t do much for my lashes. It actually clumps them up and makes them look sparse. Even though it stays feeling greasy, it does get hard to comb through which is how I’ve managed to get my lashes to look decent.

I’m trying to use this up, because I’m stubborn and because I hope it somehow becomes better. Once this is gone I’ll be sticking to my Essence mascara.

“Halloween” Makeup!

As much as I love seeing creative holiday looks and would like to be more adventurous and editorial with my makeup I don’t foresee myself doing it anytime soon. That doesn’t mean I can enjoy a good Halloween collection though!

Last year Makeup Revolution released the Forever Flawless Haunted House palette and, after missing out on it the first go around, I decided to purchase it. Even if it was just because of the tin, oops >.<

Not only is the tin eye catching but the names are perfectly fitting for the theme!

Fortunately, the color story is something I can work with and the quality matches the rest of their Forever Flawless line.

I don’t limit palettes to seasons so have used this throughout the year but I did chose this as one of my monthly palettes for this month.

Something I noticed and was excited about it, is that within this palette I can see how my comfort levels have changed.

Last year I wound have completely stayed away from Decrepit, Petrify, Creepy and Undead but this year they were the first colors I gravitated to!

  • Peril in the crease blending up towards the brow
  • Decrepit in the crease, keeping it lower than Peril and blending it in the outer 1/3 of my lid building it up on the outer 1/3
  • Added Petrify to 1/3 of my lid to darken it up more, blending it towards the center of my lid
  • I used NYX Glitter Primer on the inner half of my lid focusing it more in the inner 1/3, patting it on. Wait a few seconds to let out dry
  • Apply Creak over primer with my finger or flat brush gently swiping it when you get to the center of the lid towards the outer edge to blend between the shimmer and matte shade
  • Clean up under the eye for any fallout, do remainder of face
  • Peril all over lash line
  • Decrepit in outer 1/3 lower last blending towards center
  • With my eye closed I took a small dense brush and applied Nightmare at my upper and lower lash line to darken it up a bit and give a blurred liner look
  • Afterwards I took a thin flat liner brush and tight lined my upper lash with Decrepit (but the brush and product tight into my lash line)
  • Applied Phantom between Peril and my eyebrow
  • Took a lip brush, I like these because they’re small and tightly packed which makes them perfect for picking up and precisely placing product in an area, and used Creep in the inner corner to add some brightness to the look

Did you pick up this palette? Or are you picking up this year’s?

Hope everyone has a great rest of their day and week!

Natasha Denona Love Palette

I was excited to see Natasha Denona’s latest release was another mini palette and that it would be Valentine’s Day themed.

As soon as I saw the preview I was excited to try it but because of my low/no buy I didn’t think I would get a chance.

Fortunately for me, my wonderful partner understands how I feel about Natadha Denona and bought the Love Palette for me! (He has not been this understanding on previous desires, lol)

It arrived Thursday evening and I immediately took my eye makeup off to start playing with this.

Without flash
With front facing flash

I tried to use several colors to see how they applied and blended.

  • Colors used
    • Intense
    • Soul
    • Heartbeat
    • Heart
    • Trust
    • Pure Love

With the exception of Heart, all of the colors went on pigmented and were easy to blend. To apply Heart and have it show up I used a densely packed brush, once packed on, I was able to blend the color into the other colors used.

I can’t wait to continue to use this!

Are you picking it up? If not, why?
