Juvia’s Place Rebel Quad

I love green eyeshadow. I don’t consider it to be an everyday color but I will still collect all the green shadows like a racoon collects shiny objects

My latest acquisition is the Juvia’s Place Rebel Quad

The Quad is actually much darker in real life and not having a base or crease color stumped me at first.

I used Limone Squeezy from the Colourpop Limoncello to use a base/crease color.

What are you thoughts on this color story? Is it something you’d pick up if you don’t already have it?

Curlsmith Weightless Air Dry Cream

I took advantage of one of Ulta’s sales last week and purchased some Curlsmith hair products to test.

I’ve been really lazy with my hair care this last year because (covid of course 😂) I haven’t been leaving my house so I haven’t been doing much other than washing it.

I went through a long journey to train my hair so I could stop washing it every day and it’s really helped my hair not be as oily and my waves have really come out.

Based on a small amount of research, I believe my hair to be 2b. It’s medium thickness and has somewhat defined waves that start about halfway down my head.

This is the longest I’ve had my hair in over two decades and I’d like to keep it long and grow it out more so I figured it was time to do something with it.

I rarely hear about products for people with wavy hair (maybe I’m just not hanging out in the right places) which is another reason I haven’t really made an effort with my hair. I find using curly hair products can help, but some also can be too heavy for my hair.

I’ve never heard of Curlsmith but the products were on sale and they all had really good reviews and a good amount of reviews.

I received my products yesterday (Monday 1/3/2022) and decided to give the Air Dry Cream right away.

I didn’t wash my hair yesterday but I did condition from my neck down because my hair tends to get very tangled and hard to brush.

I applied the Air Dry Cream to my dry hair, mostly towards the end of my hair, only going as high as halfway up my head.

The directions say to apply it to wet hair but I wanted to try it in a more realistic (to me) setting.

Right away the product made my hair SO EASY to brush. That alone makes this an 8/10 for me. My hair is so hard to brush I usually avoid it so this really seems like a game changer.

I left my hair down while the product dried and I noticed my waves were defined more in the front and my hair didn’t frizz up.

Brushed through and put in pony tail

I haven’t washed my hair since Thursday or Friday and this cream didn’t make my hair feel oily or heavy. My hair has stayed soft and easy to brush through.

I’ll wash my hair today (it’s 5 am as I do a final proof read) and use this again but so far I’m enjoying this product and have high hopes. So far my hair still doesn’t feel hea y with product. I sleep with my hair tied back and use a silk pillow case. I did wake up with the usual knots at the base of my neck but running my fingers through my hair feels like it may be easier to brush through than other mornings.

Have you tried anything from this brand? What type of hair do you have and what are your thoughts on the products?

NYX Ultimate Utopia Vol II

In my previous post I mentioned a friend selected colors for my to use from the NYX Utopia palette and here is a second look from another suggestion

  • I used 1 to set my base, from my crease to my brow.
  • Applied 2 to the crease to deepen it
  • I applied 3 to the outer 1/3 of my lid
  • Applied NYX glitter primer to the rest of my lid and using my finger, applied 4
  • Used 5 in the center, over 4, to tone down the teal a little
  • Applied 6 all across the lower lash
  • Used 7 to darker the lower lash outer edge

I loved the way this look came out. I’ve really been enjoying using color stories suggested by others.

PS I tried the tiktok lip liner trick and…it’s not my thing. Lol!

Colourpop Eye look V1

Not sure if the previous Colourpop palette posts count but I’m calling this V1 because I’m using shadows I’ve depotted and placed into one large palette.

This is the x-large palette I used to combine several of my small Colourpop palettes. It wasn’t an easy decision, especially since most of my Colourpop impulse buys are due to the packaging, but I love being able to see all my options.

I did have to label the shadows myself and at some point I stopped including what palette they were from but it is easy to Google the shadow name and see what palette it was in.

Shadows used :

  • Champs from Yes, Please
  • Top Notch from All I See is Magic
  • Hard from Double Entendre
  • Elfish from Dream St
  • Money Tree from Fortune
  • Juicy Fruit

The highlighter is a recent Jaclyn Cosmetics loose highlighters and the bronzer is from the Tarte Ave Princess palette.

Violet Voss Flamingo Palette

I’m not sure what it is about the brand but whenever Violet Voss comes out with a palette I need it.

I managed to hold off on the Flamingo Palette until a couple of months ago when it was on sale through Boxycharm (Violet Voss’s shipping is OUTRAGEOUS). Even then it took me this long to use the palette.

I’ve become a lot more comfortable with color over this last year so I was eager to use Beach Ball.

I started with Lemonade, added Beach Ball then tried to darken with Sandals because I wasn’t feeling confident enough to pull off the green.

I immediately regretted adding Sandals but I kept going and added Tidal Wave, over NYX glitter primer. Once Tidal Wave was down I darkened the outer third with Beach Ball again and loved the result.

I have to remind myself to trust the process and I’m so glad I stuck with this look!
