Colourpop Lust for Dusk

I’ve been pretty good about not making too many makeup purchases this year but I could not resist the Lust for Dusk palette

The dusk colors really appealed to me and…I hadn’t purchased a new palette in a bit, haha.

I love the subtle colors and the shimmer/metallics. I was most excited to see Miser (used on lid in this look) make a comeback in this palette (first available in LE Fortune palette).

In order to make the lid shade pop I use the NYX glitter primer.

The forumla does not disappoint, it’s easy to apply and blend. I’m excited to post more looks using this palette.

Natasha Denona Glam Palette V2

Oy, I just checked and this palette is sold out at Sephora again and with good reason!

This palette is so pretty and the layout makes it so easy to create a variety of looks. I personally don’t like that the shadows don’t have individual names but the formula makes up for it.

I’m not usually into cool toned palettes but this color story is so easy to use. I realize it’s not very “Spring” but, inside my house all seasons feel the same, lol.

The mattes in this palette are very buildable so you don’t have to worry about going in too harshly and then blending for ages to soften the edges. The metallics are so soft and they apply nicely with a flat brush or your finger. I didn’t even use glitter primer with this look and the shadows still looked so beautiful.

I hope this palette becomes available for the Sephora Spring sale.

Other products used in this look :

  • The Crayon Case Blush Binder for bronzer and blush
  • Highlighter is CP Monster SSC with
  • Jaclyn Cosmetics Spark$ over
  • Lippie stix Hike House
  • Elf camo CC gream
  • DIOR forever foundation

#carselfies

These days my car selfies are looking a little different

My car lease was up and I’m trying to decide if I want to get another car or use alternative transportation given how little I leave my house and how close my job is (and working from home plays a big impact too)

I want to try to test this out for a month or two and how I feel afterward. I’m also hoping that not being able to just jump in my car and go somewhere will help curb my spending habits. Fingers crossed!

Maybe I’ll get a moped or scooter, haha.

Here is what I look like under the mask today

Products used:

  • Lancome Clarifique Exfoliating & Hydrating Face Essence with Glycolic Acid (gifted)
  • Supergoop Mineral Sheer Suncreen spf 30 PA++ (gifted)
  • Colourpop Rendezvous palette (discontinued) , Cool Breeze shadow stix
  • Natasha Denona Metropolis palette and setting powder
  • Morphe 25B (to set shadow base)
  • Tarte Ave Princess contour palette
  • Tarte four pan blush palette (discontinued) and BB tinted primer broad spectrum over
  • CYO foundation (discontinued

I was reall impressed with the BrowGal brow pencil (received in Boxycharm or Ipsy). It’s soft and makes it easy to fill in your brows AND it comes with a built in sharpener

Colourpop Eye look V1

Not sure if the previous Colourpop palette posts count but I’m calling this V1 because I’m using shadows I’ve depotted and placed into one large palette.

This is the x-large palette I used to combine several of my small Colourpop palettes. It wasn’t an easy decision, especially since most of my Colourpop impulse buys are due to the packaging, but I love being able to see all my options.

I did have to label the shadows myself and at some point I stopped including what palette they were from but it is easy to Google the shadow name and see what palette it was in.

Shadows used :

  • Champs from Yes, Please
  • Top Notch from All I See is Magic
  • Hard from Double Entendre
  • Elfish from Dream St
  • Money Tree from Fortune
  • Juicy Fruit

The highlighter is a recent Jaclyn Cosmetics loose highlighters and the bronzer is from the Tarte Ave Princess palette.

Fresh Kombucha Cleansing Treatment review

I was gifted this cleanser through Octoly a couple of months ago and I’m hooked!

This is a no-rinse cleanser that offers skincare that “refines the look of pores , and protects the skin’s barrier with prebiotic inulin” for clarity.

What is inulin? In ways I was able to understand: it acts as food for the good bacteria that lives on our skin which makes sense why it claims to protect the skin’s barrier.

I love that this removes my makeup and doesn’t leave any kind of residue but does hydrate and soften my skin.

This is a product I’ll definitely be purchasing and highly recommend even if it’s used after or along with another cleanser.

Eyelook and Mascara Review

I received this LA Girl Cosmetics Jetsetter mascara free to test. I was excited to test this because I’m all about inexpensive mascara, regular price this is $7US at Ulta and the brand goes on sale fairly often.

The key benefits claimed are:

  • Buildable, smudge-proof, paraben free formula
  • Sky high lift and length
  • Water and flake resistant

In my experience the formula is not buildable nor does it provide any kind of lifting or length.

To get my lashes to look as shown in the pictures, I had to apply three coats of mascara. I would have done another layer to make them darker but on the third layer my lashes started to clump and look like spider legs. I waited until the mascara dried to brush through my lashes with a clean spoolie which made them less clumpy. Having done this I can attest that the mascara is not flakey.

I give this a three out of five stars and would not recommend it.

Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?

Wet N Wild Mega Protein Mascara

I’m not usually picky when it comes to mascara, in fact my favorite mascara is an Essence Lash Princess mascara that’s $4. However, when it comes to this WNW mascara, it is awful.

I picked it up hoping it would be another great inexpensive mascara (also because I didn’t have a mascara on me and didn’t want to spend money on one, haha), but it’s not. It feels greasy, maybe it’s the “protein”, and it doesn’t do much for my lashes. It actually clumps them up and makes them look sparse. Even though it stays feeling greasy, it does get hard to comb through which is how I’ve managed to get my lashes to look decent.

I’m trying to use this up, because I’m stubborn and because I hope it somehow becomes better. Once this is gone I’ll be sticking to my Essence mascara.

Love in London V2 look and life

Oy, it feels like it’s been a year since I last posted. I’ve been trying to stick to a Monday and Friday schedule but even that seems to be too much for me. I’m going to continue to keep that as a goal but more than anything I want to keep blogging because I want to, not because I feel obligated.

With that said, here is a look using BH Cosmetics Love in London palette in different lighting.

I’m surprised at how much I’m loving this cool toned palette. It’s been so easy to combine shades and they’re so wearable.

Have you tried any BH Cosmetics products?

Love in London palette look

The BH Cosmetics Travel Series collection has several location eyeshadow and highlighter palettes and so far these are the only palettes I’ve tried. The destination theme is a little sentimental because they can be of places you’ve traveled to or want to travel to, which is exactly how they got me *face palm*. Once I tried the first palette I was hooked and purchased a couple more palettes.

Today’s look is using the Love in London palette. This palette has a more neutral, lighter color story than I typically gravitate towards.

The palette is about half matte and half shimmer colors. The mattes build up nicely and blend out easily. They are a little powdery but that doesn’t affect the quality.

The shimmers are nice and buttery. They can be applied with a wet brush or over a sticky primer to show up more pigmented.

I used the two mattes, Cheers and Picadilly, in the crease and to darken the crease and outer part of the crease/lid. I used NYX glitter primer all over the lid and went in with Duchess on the outer part of my lid, over Picadilly, to smoke out the look more. Then I applied Biscuit over the rest of the lid and finished the look with Palace in the inner corner.

I used Picadilly and Duchess on the lower lash line.

I loved how this look turned out and am excited up try out more looks.

Mini Walmart haul

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Walmart (we don’t have any conveniently near us) but I ran out of a couple of items so I took advantage and found one to go to.

I repurchased the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer. Theywere out of Sand which is what I’ve been using so I grabbed one shade lighter to try out. I felt like sand was a little too dark anyway so I think this one will be good.

I was also repurchased the WetNWild Photofocus loose powder in Banana. This is hands down my favorite powder and yesterday I fianlly ran out, I even removed the plastic stopped to use up every last dust spec lol. I contemplated holding off on replacing this one since I have a few others to use up but I couldn’t resist it.

The WetNWild blush is an existing shade, Mellow Wine, that was repackaged in this Valentine’s Day packaging.

I grabbed the elf mascara for about $2 to give it a try and the highlighter was $5 I believe. I like the highlighter, it gives a nice golden glow without any glitter. The mascara is ok, I’ll have to keep testing it because it’s still too new and too wet to really decide how I feel about it.

I couldn’t resist the cute little Caboodles tote. I’m always looking for a convenient way to carry my motd through the house as I look for a comfortable place to apply it lol. It comes with several compartments for brushes and makeup products. It’s actually a nail kit tote but it works for this too. The center compartment comes out for easy cleaning.

The last (actually it was the very first lol) item I picked up was a cute fluffy sloth for my niece.
