Let’s get into this like it hasn’t been over three weeks since I last posted š
My hair was never the priority in my grooming, mostly because I just didn’t know how to handle it. It’s thick and tends to get frizzy and poofy and overall always looked dull.
About ten years ago (omgosh I’m old!) I started really taking care of it, getting regular cuts, trying heat protective products, leave-in conditioners, the works.
Most recently, I’d say about three years ago, I stopped blow drying and using any kind of heat in my hair almost all together. Mostly it was because I got lazy and just didn’t want to “do” my hair. The plus side is, my hair started looking and feeling a lot healthier. I trained it so wasn’t washing it as often and my natural waves were really coming through. The one thing I did change is I bleached and dyed some of it and fortunately I didn’t get any of the frying dead looking hair I was scared of.
Then covid hit and I went an entire year without cutting or bleaching my hair, I could still touch up the color at home, and my hair went straight into nothing but buns. There were many days I didn’t even brush my hair. I struggled with wanting to brush my hair because it was always so tangled. No matter what products I use, which I try to keep minimal to avoid build up, I have this spot at the base of my neck on the right side that gets so matted.
Well, now that I’m having to interact with people again it’s time to get my hair back into shape.
A cut and color touch up went a long way but I was still dealing with how tangled my hair would get.
In a moment of desperation and curiosity I picked up a “tangle free” plastic/silicon brush and let me tell you, it’s been life changing!
I don’t know what it is about this brush but whether my hair is wet or dry this brushes through it so nicely! I’m able to get rid of the matted parts at my neck with a lot less breakage and tears.
